On behalf of the Walkin' Roll family, we would like to express our deepest sympathy to Jessica Elmore and her family in the loss of her father, Steven Elmore

 

Obituary as published in the Hickory Daily Record on Nov 14, 2010.

BETHLEHEM - Steven Elmore, 60, of Bethlehem passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at Frye Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Steven was born on August 9, 1950 in Catawba County to the late Robert Harrison Elmore and Mary Sue Lafone Elmore. He was also preceded in death by his sister Sharon Elmore Eckard. He was a graduate of St. Stephens High School, class of 1968, and a later graduate of Regis University in Denver Colorado. Steven proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 23 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. He worked at CommScope for 14 years in technical support, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow employees and cherished his role as Santa Claus. Steven also enjoyed white water rafting, backpacking, and golf. Steven is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, Sharon Underwood Elmore, daughter, Jessica Elmore of Bethlehem, son Adam Elmore and wife Kelly of Charlotte, and grandson Carter Elmore of Charlotte, to whom he loved being grandpa. The family will receive friends at Hickory Funeral Home from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, November 14th. Services will be on Monday, November 15th at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with the Pastor Scott Hooks officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #48. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund 1225 29th Ave Dr NE Hickory, NC 28601.
